Born on March 23, 1987, she has also won four Filmfare Awards and featured six times in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list.

In 2020, she was conferred with Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest civilian award.

Born in Bhambla, a small town in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana initially aspired to become a doctor at the insistence of her parents. Determined to build her own career, she relocated to Delhi at the age of sixteen and took up modelling for a brief period of time.

Here are a few lesser-known facts about her:

  • Kangana turned down a Rs 2 crore offer to promote a fairness cream. Her refusal is also backed by a powerful quote,
“Ever since I was a kid, I have never understood the concept of fairness. Especially, in such a case, as a celebrity, what kind of an example would I be setting for younger people? I have no regrets about turning this offer down. As a public figure, I have responsibilities.”
