Chandigarh: A female Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel allegedly slapped newly-elected MP Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport on Thursday.

Kangana, who won on a BJP ticket from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Parliamentary constituency, was travelling to Delhi by a Vistara flight.

According to the actor-turned-politician, she had completed security check when CISF female official Kulwinder Kaur, posted at the frisking area, argued with her and slapped her.

The constable has been suspended with immediate effect pending an investigation, India Today reported quoting CISF officials.

The action of the lady constable, who hails from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab’s Kapurthala, could have been a reaction to Kangana’s views about women in Punjab during the farmers’ agitation.

The ‘Manikarnika’ actor-director had mocked women in Punjab in one of her tweets, saying that they were protesting to earn a sum of Rs 100.

Kangana narrated her side of the story in a video message.

“I am getting a lot of phone calls, from the media as well as my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine. The incident that happened today at Chandigarh airport was during the security check. As soon as I came out after the security check, the lady in the second cabin, a CISF security staff came from the side, hit me on my face and started abusing me. When I asked her why she did so, she said that she supports farmers’ protest. I am safe but my concern is how to handle this shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab,” Kangana said.

In another video, purportedly from the airport, the female constable can be heard saying, “My mother was also among the protesters when she (Kangana) made these remarks.”

The National Award-winning actress, who has been an unabashed supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, beat experienced Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes in Mandi.

She often backed the BJP-led Central government on issues like Citizenship (Amendment) Act and farmers’ protests.
