Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ To Finally Release On This Date

Mumbai:  After several controversies and debates, Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ is set to finally see the light of the day as the film’s makers on Tuesday announced its release date in theatres.

Having receiving clearance from the censor board after a long delay, the Kangana-starrer will hit theatres on January 17, 2025.

Kangana took to her X handle on Monday to announce the release date.

Written, directed and produced by Kangana, ‘Emergency’ revolves around the life of India’s first female Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who declared national emergency on June 25, 1975.

The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 6. However, it ran into a controversy after the Sikh community alleged that the film showed them in a bad light.

The censor board ordered 13 cuts and changes in the film, including removal of some violent scenes, and reference made to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as ‘saint or sant’ in a dialogue.

After the filmmakers made those changes, the censor board passed the film with a U/A certificate.

Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films and Renu Pitti ‘Emergency’ stars Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.
