Kapil Sibal Takes A Jibe At PM Modi’s ‘Acche Din’ In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: “After four years, ‘Na Acche Din’, ‘Na Sacche Din’, Modiji hum aage badhenge ‘Tere Bin’,” said senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal at a press conference during his visit to Odisha capital on Saturday.

The Congress is observing the fourth anniversary of PM Modi’s government as ‘Vishwasghat Divas’ or ‘Betrayal Day’ to highlight the failures of NDA government at the Centre.

Sibal slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and termed him as ‘anti-people’. “When Modi had visited Odisha in 2014, he made tall claims and said the eastern Indian states would be on BJP’s focus. But in reality no central schemes were properly implemented in those regions. What has Modiji done for Odisha in the last four years? The State didn’t get any special packages in all these years and adding to its woes, the backward region development plan was also scrapped,” he added.

He further said Modi is aware of the growing resentment among the people and for this reason he decided to avoid the road routes and arrived at the public meeting venue in Cuttack by helicopter.

“I want to ask the Chief Minister of this State as to why is he supporting the BJP; and he has been supporting it since long,” said Sibal, targeting the BJD government for their absence during the oath-taking ceremony of Congress-JD(S) alliance that formed the government in Karnataka. He also alleged that BJD is bringing up Mahanadi issue as the election is approaching.

“But the people of Odisha should know that Naveen Patnaik’s government has failed to provide jobs and even drinking water facilities,” he said. He further went on questioning the Modi government for not having made an eastern corridor covering over 400-km long coastline in Odisha, as promised.

After arriving at the Bhubaneswar International Airport earlier in the day, Sibal had termed Modi’s visit to Odisha as ‘Jumla’.

Odisha BJP’s spokesperson Sajjan Sharma, however, termed Kapil Sibal’s allegations as baseless. “The Center has sanctioned Rs 1.78 lakh crore to ensure all schemes in Odisha are implemented properly,” he said.
