Mumbai: Karan Johar chose a special day to make an important announcement.
Johar, one of Bollywood’s prolific filmmakers who turned 50 today, took to social media to inform that he will soon be directing his first action movie.
KJo, as he is popularly called, said that he will begin shooting for the yet-untitled movie after the release of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The under-production film will hit cinema halls in February next year, and Johar’s next will go on the floors in April 2023.
“I would like to announce my next directorial feature… Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will release on the 10th of February 2023 and I will commence the shooting of my Action Film in April 2023,” read a statement issued by Johar, who is hosting a grand birthday bash tonight.
His announcement aroused fans’ interest and there was speculation over which actor will play the lead role. Some felt it would be Sidharth Malhotra, while many felt it could be a collaboration between Johar and Shah Rukh Khan.
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, a romantic drama which marks Johar’s return as director, has a strong cast. Besides lead pair Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, veterans Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi will play key roles.
Johar is also gearing up for another season of Koffee With Karan.
