Karnataka MLA Wants To Teach Rashmika ‘A Lesson’ For Forgetting Her Roots

Mumbai: After fans, it’s Congress MLA Ravikumar Gowda Ganiga who is apparently unhappy with the ‘Pushpa’ actress Rashmika Mandanna and wants to teach her ‘a lesson’ for forgetting her roots.

Expressing his displeasure over Rashmika’s disregard for Kannada language and cinema, the MLA, on Monday, told mediapersons at Vidhana Soudha, “Rashmika Mandanna, who started her career with the Kannada movie Kirik Party in Karnataka, refused to attend the International Film Festival last year when we invited her. She said, ‘I have my house in Hyderabad, I don’t know where Karnataka is, and I don’t have time. I can’t come’.”

“One of our legislator friends visited her house 10–12 times to invite her, but she refused and even disregarded Kannada, despite growing up in the industry here. Shouldn’t we teach them a lesson?” he asked.

Earlier, Kannada fans slammed Rashmika for forgetting her roots when, during a promotional event for ‘Chhaava’, she claimed that she is from Hyderabad. “Because I’m from Hyderabad, and I have come alone, today I hope I am a part of all of your family,” Rashmika said, while addressing the crowd from the stage.

Rashmika, who hails from Coorg in Karnataka, forayed into the film industry with the Kannada film ‘Kirik Party’ alongside Rakshit Shetty.

However, she rose to fame with Telugu films, such as ‘Geetha Govindam’, ‘Dear Comrade,’ and ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru.’

The actress is currently basking in the success of her recent outing, ‘Chhaava’.

The period drama, which stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, emerged as India’s highest-grossing film of 2025 by collecting over ₹600 crore at the box office worldwide.

Rashmika will next be seen in Salman Khan starrer ‘Sikandar., which is scheduled to release on Eid this year.
