Puri: The online registration process for Habisyalis, women who want to observe Kartika Brata in Odisha’s Puri, began on Tuesday.
Officials said the application link has been activated on edistrict.odisha.gov.in. Habisyalis intending to observe the Radha Damodar Kartika brata during the holy month at government expenses need to register their names online.
Widowed women up to 70 years of age and married women between 50 and 70 years can apply for the scheme. Eligible women will have to complete the registration process online to be considered for the arrangements made under the programme.
This year, the Kartika Brata will be observed from October 26 to November 24. Under the scheme, the Odisha government will provide free accommodation and other facilities to 2,500 Habisyalis in Puri.
The registered women will be provided free stay at Brundabati Nivas, the Municipal Kalyan Mandap and the Railway Tourist Complex in Puri.
The facilities will also include organised darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple and free Mahaprasad for the Habishyalis.
Women from all 30 districts of Odisha will be eligible to apply online. Applicants need to use the Odisha government’s e-District portal to submit their applications.
