‘Kashmir Palace’ At Bomikhal This Durga Puja

Bhubaneswar: Kashmir Raj Prasad (Palace) will be teeming with festive fun this Durga Puja, albeit in Odisha capital. A replica of the palace is the theme of the pandal being erected at Bomikhal here this year.

“The pandal is being decorated with the thread of lanterns, leaves of betel nut trees and unique stones,” informed Bomikhal Durga Puja Samiti vice-president Sailendra Jena.

With as many as 15 LED lights to brighten up the 800 feet high pandal, it is sure attract city denizens, he said.

An artificial waterfall is also being put up in front of the pandal.

The Samiti has engaged 35 Kolkata-based artisans, who are working day and night to decorate the pandal being erected at a cost of Rs 32 lakh.

Jena said that a special saree will be offered to the Goddess on Ashtami.

“Prasad will be prepared for devotees from Shasthi to Dasami. On Maha Astami, 3,000 people will be served prasad. On Nabami and Dasami, Dahi Pakhala will be offered to Maa Durga,” said Jena.

Jena further said that 20 CCTV cameras will be installed on the premises for security purpose. Besides, 20 police personnel and 45 volunteers will also be deployed.

“We will deploy six lady volunteers on these days. For the differently-abled and senior citizens, four wheel chairs will also be available,” he said.

A Meena Bazaar and food stall will also be installed near the pandal. Cultural programmes will also be organised for four days.

“We are following all the guidelines for a pollution-free Puja,” he added.
