London: Kate Winslet, whose portrayal of Rose Dawson Calvert in the epic film ‘Titanic’ is still loved across ages, met with an accident while shooting for a film in Croatia.
Kate was filming a historical drama titled ‘Lee’ when she slipped on the set and hurt her leg. She had to be rushed to hospital, her representatives have confirmed.
The 46-year-old actress, who recently starred in American crime drama TV series Mare of Easttown, was said to be recovering.
Deadline reported quoting Kate’s representatives that she is likely to return to the sets later this week if she got a go-ahead from doctors.
Kate plays the title role in ‘Lee’, a biography of Elizabeth ‘Lee’ Miller — an acclaimed correspondent who worked for Vogue during World War II. Before becoming a journalist, Lee was the muse for celebrated international artists like Pablo Picasso and Man Ray.
Before ‘Lee’, Kate’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ by James Cameron is due to be released.
In the 1997 film tragic love story Titanic — directed, written, produced and co-edited by Cameron – based on true events, Kate plays the lover of Leonardo DiCaprio and the story revolves around the couple who want to escape. After the Titanic ship sinks, the duo wage a gallant battle to be alive before meeting a watery grave in the Atlantic Ocean.
