Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, on Sunday, accepted the resignation of BJP ministers, who had participated in a rally held in support of the accused in the rape and murder of an eight-year-old Muslim girl.
Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga were spotted at the venue of the rally which was held on March 1 in support of the arrested. Jammu and Kashmir BJP state chief Sat Sharma sent the resignation to CM Mehbooba Mufti, who accepted it and forwarded to Governor N N Vohra.
The protest rally was held after the crime branch of had arrested the nephew of a caretaker of a temple in connection with the case.
The Crime Branch has alleged that the girl was drugged and repeatedly raped and later crushed to death with stones. The motive was alleged to drive out the nomadic community out of the area.
