Kejriwal Government Brings Down VAT On Diesel As COVID Relief

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Friday decided to bring down value-added tax (VAT) on diesel from 16.75 per cent to 30 per cent.

The government’s decision will reduce price of diesel in Delhi from 82 to 73.64 or by 8.36 per litre, said Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Delhi government had hiked value-added tax (VAT) on the automobile fuels in May.

In a video released on the official twitter handle of Aam Aadmi Party, Kejriwal announced his government’s decision. This move, according to Kejriwal, is an effort to reduce financial stress on Delhites amid the coronavirus crisis.

Currently, diesel is sold at the retail rate of 81.94 per litre in Delhi while petrol costs 80.43.
