Kejriwal Vows To Offer Rs 18,000 A Month Salary To Priests If AAP Comes To Power Again In Delhi

New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwa on Monday (December 30) promised a monthly salary of Rs 18,000 for priests of temples and granthis of gurudwaras, if Aam Aadmi party (AAP) is voted to power in the upcoming Delhi elections. He made the announcement while addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Monday. “Priests and granthis have been the custodians of our religious customs, serving society selflessly. Unfortunately, no one has ever taken care of their financial well-being,” he said.

Kejriwal stated that registration for the scheme would begin tomorrow (Tuesday). The AAP chief will personally initiate the process at the Hanuman Temple in New Delhi. “I request the BJP not to create hurdles in the registration process. Blocking this will be akin to committing a sin as they are our bridge to God,” he added.

Earlier, Kejriwal had announced the Sanjeevani scheme for senior citizens and the Mahila Samman Yojana. Under the Sanjeevani Yojana, AAP claimed to provide free healthcare for individuals above 60. The Mahila Samman Yojana will provide Rs 2,100 to women.

Kejriwal on illegal Bangladeshi, Rohingya voters

Speaking at the same press conference, Kejriwal attacked the BJP over allegations of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya voters in Delhi. “Stop the drama and arrest Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. He has all the data about where Rohingyas have been resettled or rehabilitated. If the BJP knows so much, why aren’t they taking action?” Kejriwal asked, as quoted by India Today.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had rubbished the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegations of operating “Operation Lotus” in Delhi for voter manipulation. AAP has accused the BJP of settling Rohingyas in Delhi for votes.

Delhi Assembly polls are scheduled to be held before February 2025.
