Bhubaneswar: Celebrated singer Kalaimamani Dr OS Arun and his orchestra captivated the audience with Carnatic vocal recital at Rabindra Mandap here on Saturday.
The soulful presentation was the highlight of Day 3 at the week-long 30th Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra (GKCM) Award Festival, organised by Srjan-Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Nrityabasa along with institutional support of Sri Sri University (SSU), Cuttack.
Vocalist Dr OS Arun was accompanied by Dr Badrinarayanan on the violin, MS Venkatasubramanian on mridangam and E Martin on the table.
In a harmonious synergy, Dr OS Arun rendered complex notes and tonal intricacies, imbuing bhakti into the soul of the music. The performance was enhanced by violin, mridangam and tabla accompaniment by Dr Badrinarayanan, Venkatasubramanian and Martin, respectively, as they paid heartfelt tribute to Guru Kelucharan.
The inaugural evening, on September 5, saw ghazal recital by Chandan Dass, while the second day was lit up by the presentation of Shrimant Yogi by Bharatanatyam exponent Vaibhav Arekar and Sankhya Dance Company.
