Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia writer Yashodhara Mishra will receive Kendra Sahitya Akademi award -2020 for her book ‘Samudrakula Ghara’, which was published in 2016.
The names of the awardees were announced by Kendra Sahitya Akademi president Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar on Tuesday. The award includes a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
The book, ‘Samudrakula Ghara’, was selected on the basis of recommendations made by the jury comprising Dr Binapani Mohanty, Dr Pratibha Satpathy and Ramakanta Rath.
Mishra has written over 15 collections of short stories, novels, poems, besides other translated works.
She was earlier conferred with Odisha Sahitya Akademi award, Katha Award, Odisha Book Fair award and Gangadhar Rath Foundation Puraskar (for short stories), among others.
Mishra was a professor in English and a visiting fellow at Maison de Science, Paris.
