Bhubaneswar: Hours after quitting BJD, Kendrapada Zilla Parishad chairperson Gitanjali Sethi joined the BJP at the party office in Odisha capital on Monday.
She was inducted into the saffron fold in the presence of state unit president Manmohan Samal and Odisha election in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar.
In her resignation letter to BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Sethi had clearly mentioned that her decision to quit the party was influenced by the Narendra Modi’s mission for a developed India.
She had switched sides from BJP to BJD ahead of the panchayat elections in the state in 2022.
Sources further said that she was also a ticket aspirant for Kendrapada Assembly segment. While BJD has fielded former minister Ganeswar Behera, who joined the part earlier this month after quitting Congress, from Kendrapada, the BJP is yet to announce its nominee for the seat.
