Kendrapara: The accused in the rape of a four-year-old girl at Rajkanika in Kendrapara district was arrested by police on Monday.
The person was identified as Ranjan Nayak (45), uncle of the victim.
Though the incident took place on April 24, the matter came to the light after the family members of the victim lodged a complaint at Rajkanika police station on Sunday.
According to the complaint, the girl was in the house with her grandmother when the accused visited them. He then took the four-year-old to a nearby bamboo bush and raped her.
The girl’s mother had further alleged that they have been receiving threats from the accused to settle the matter without the interference of cops.
Basing on the FIR, police started investigation and managed to nab the accused after conducting raids at different places in the district.
