Keonjhar: The District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Keonjhar will provide scholarships to Class X students studying in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) who have secured more than 60%.
Officials said as many as 280 Class X students from nine OAVs in the district will receive the scholarships with total worth of Rs 54.8 lakh.
The decision was taken at a meeting attended by the district collector and DMF officials at the district headquarters town. Retired IAS officer and Adviser cum Working President of OAVS Upendra Tripathy also attended the event online.
With this decision, Keonjhar has become the first district in Odisha to provide scholarships to meritorious Class X students in OAVs.
The initiative aims to encourage students to complete their schooling cycle and also support them financially to pursue higher studies beyond Class X.
On the eve of Teachers’ Day, the collector also felicitated the principals of the 9 OAVs and appreciated their efforts.
