Keonjhar: Keonjhar Police on Sunday organised an awareness programme to inform the people about the rumours regarding the child lifters.
As a part of the programme, a van was taken out to cover different parts of the district advising people not to spread rumours on social media about the existence of any child lifting gang in the state.
“Awareness and alertness are the best ways to tackle such situations. We advise the people to inform the police immediately in case they came across such rumours,” a police officer said.
Strict action will be initiated against those found taking law in their hands by punishing innocent people on the suspicion of being child lifters, the officer added.
Meanwhile, as many as three cases pertaining to child theft have been reported. Two persons were injured after being attacked on child lifters suspicion.
As many as 15 persons have been arrested in this connection in the last three days, sources said.
