Keonjhar: Vice-chairman of Keonjhar zilla parishad and his supporters were detained by police while they were organising a feast on the occasion of Raja festival in violation of COVID-19 restrictions on Sunday.
According to sources, Sunday being the first day of Raja festival, Sahu had organised a feast on the outskirts of his village Padana under Ramachandrapur police station in the district. More than 150 supporters of Sahu had turned up to participate in the feast to celebrate the festival.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot to stop the celebration and prevent the congregation. On their arrival, Sahu’s supporters fled.
The police took Sahu and his three supporters to the police station where they were detained till the report was filed.
Earlier, the district administration had imposed restrictions on any kind of congregation or community celebration of Raja in view of prevailing COVID-19 situation.
