Kerajang-Angul Doubling Commissioned in Record Time

Bhubaneswar: The doubling of 13.5 km track between Kerajang and Angul, which is part of the doubling of Sambalpur-Talcher link, has been commissioned on Sunday (January 10).

The work has been completed in a record time and the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety has also given permission to run trains at a maximum speed of 100 kmph on the new double line, stated a release by the authorities.

This is a great achievement as getting 100 kmph for a newly commissioned line is a rare event, the release added.

With this, doubling between Rairakhol to Angul has been completed for Sambalpur-Talcher project. A tota of 85.3 km out of 168.2 km doubling is over.

CCRS had inspected the section on December 28, last year. Followig this the pre-non interlocked work started on January 1 and ended on January 7. The Non-interlocked work started the next day on January 8 during which a mega traffic block of 8 hours was taken to connect UP existing main line to R3 of Angul. The work involved heavy machineries to be deployed for cut and connection work.

The hard work and persistent efforts by different departments of Railways helped in completion of the NI work.

A speed trial with inspection special train fitted with OMS 2000 hauled by electrice locomotive was conducted between Kerjung and Angul section at a maximum speed of 110 kmph.
Based on the speed trials, inspections and interpretation of OMS results, the broad gauge line has been sanctioned for passenger and goods trains upto a maximum speed of 100 kmph.

General Manager, East Coast Railways, Vidya Bhusan, congratulated the entire team for their determination towards the work.
