Bhubaneswar: Narcotic drugs including marijuana weighing over four kg were seized from a man by officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.
As per information, the man was transporting the contraband processed in Germany from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar by putting it in biscuit packets.
Acting on a tip-off, DRI and Customs officials carried out a special operation to nab the accused, who hails from Kerala.
When the man arrived at the airport on a flight from Bangkok on Tuesday night, the officials detained him and conducted a thorough check of his luggage. The narcotic drugs were found from his luggage.
The accused was interrogated to uncover the extent of the smuggling network and identify others involved in the illegal activities.
It may be recalled that the Customs officials recently arrested two women from Kolkata while smuggling over nine kg marijuana from Malaysia to Bhubaneswar.
