Bhubaneswar: Odisha cycling ace Swasti Singh won the gold medal in 40km mass start event of the Asmita Khelo India Women’s Cycling League, North Zone (Road Event) in Haryana’s Sonipat.
This was the 4th gold and 15th medal in Khelo India competitions for Swasti, who received a cash award of Rs 10,000.
In her last Khelo India competition, the Women’s Track Cycling League (National Final) at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi earlier this year, Swasti bagged five silver medals.
A senior trainee of SAI National Centre of Excellence, New Delhi, Swasti is looking forward to doing well at the next National Road Cycling Championship, which is likely to be hosted by Odisha in Puri later this year. She is also preparing for the Asian Cycling Championship 2025.
“I am excited for the upcoming National Road Cycling Championship as it may take place in Puri. This would be a great opportunity for me to perform in my home state for the first time,” said Swasti, who works as an Assistant Manager at Odisha Mining Corporation.
