Bhubaneswar: Electrification work between Khurda Road and Nayagarh Town of ongoing Khurda Road-Balangir railway line project has been completed.
Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, Kolkata under the Ministry of Civil Aviation AM Choudhary inspected the 66-km stretch of electrification work between Khurda Road and Nayagarh Town on Monday.
On the trial run, the CRS special train was hauled by electric engine from Nayagarh Town to Khurda Road with a speed of 80 kmph. A budget of about Rs 60 crore was sanctioned for the electrification project. The electrification work from Nayagarh Town to Mahipur will also be completed soon, according to an ECoR release.
Choudhary was accompanied by Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE) of East Coast Railway (ECoR) BP Panda, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Khurda Road SK Singh and Chief Project Director (CPD) of Railway Electrification (RE) K Nagendra Prasad.
