Khurda: Radhacharanpur in Jatani block of Janla panchayat in the Khurda district has been declared as containment zone on Sunday evening at around 5:00 pm.
The area has been sealed after a local youth working as a driver at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was identified as coronavirus positive.
Sarpanch Pradosh Kumar Jena has declared Radhacharanpur as a containment zone for 48 hours in order to check further spread of the virus in the slum.
People will not be allowed to go out of the slum. Similarly, outsiders’ entry into the slum has also been restricted.
Earlier, three employees who tested positive for COVID-19 had a travel history to Sambalpur for attending a wedding ceremony. They have been shifted to a COVID hospital.
Sarpanch Jena was informed by the administration immediately after receiving the report, following which the area was sealed for two days.
The family of the driver has been directed to remain in home quarantine and efforts are underway to identify those who came in contact with him, Sarpanch Jena said.
