Mumbai: Yash and Kiara Advani’s upcoming film ‘Toxic’ has been generating quite a buzz among fans.

Speaking about her experience of working on the project, Kiara revealed that director Geetu Mohandas had an unusual approach on set and did not allow her to greet anyone on arrival, saying she wanted her to remain in a particular mindset for the role.

“Geetu is like, okay, tomorrow when you come on set, I want you to be… and I’m a person when I walk on set I’m always like, ‘Hi, what’s up, good morning’, I’m that person. And she’s like, ‘I don’t want pleasantries, I want you to come in that zone, no hi hello, not your team, nobody, just be in a zone today

’,” Kiara said during a conversation with Bombay Times.

Since ‘Toxic’ was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, Kiara shared that the experience came with its own set of challenges.

“Working in Kannada, I think I would say Toxic has been challenging because it’s for the first time that we shot in both English and Kannada. We would do the same scene. So this shot was an English shot first till we got the take right. Then we do the Kannada take, because you’re, at least for someone like me, Kannada not being my language, mugging up my dialogues literally the night before,” Kiara said.

Kiara also reflected on how her character Nadia influenced her perspective on love and relationships.

Speaking about the film’s themes, she said ‘Toxic’ explores man-woman dynamics in a different light.

The actor admitted that it took her time to understand and embrace the world portrayed in the film, adding that while some may view it as bold or unconventional, such reactions depend on individual beliefs and personal perspectives.

‘Toxic’ also stars Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth in important roles.

The film, reportedly made on a huge budget of Rs 700-800 crore, was initially scheduled for a worldwide release on April 10, 2025. The delayed release date is June 4, 2026.
