Angul: Angul Collector Anil Kumar Samal on Tuesday recommended blacklisting of the contractor agency responsible for maintenance of the borewell into which the 3-year-old girl slipped and fell on Monday.
The move came after the executive engineer of lift irrigation department submitted the inquiry report regarding the incident to the Collector.
The victim identified as Radha Sahu fell into the 200-feet borewell at Gulsar village in the district yesterday at around 9 am
Local police and fire officials rushed to the spot after being alerted about the incident from locals. They were assisted by Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) personnel. It took nearly seven hours for
the joint team to rescue Radha from the borewell.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik praised the efforts of fire, police, ODRAF officials and district administration for their excellent team
work.
Following the mishap, District Collector announced a fixed deposit of Rs 20,000 in the name of the girl and order the lift irrigation department to conduct an inquiry and submit report accordingly.
