Puri: Two days after being kidnapped for ransom from Odisha’s Sonepur district, a minor boy was rescued by the police in the pilgrim town of Puri on Tuesday.
As per information, the boy was abducted from Patabhadi area of Sonepur on Sunday evening while playing outside his home.
The kidnapper had threatened to harm the child if Rs 20 lakh was not arranged and handed over by 11 am on Monday. The kidnappers threatened to harm the child if the police were informed.
The child’s father had lodged a complaint with the Sonepur police following which a special team was formed to investigate the case. The police worked tirelessly to track down the kidnappers and rescue the child.
Investigation showed that the boy was confined in a guest house in Narendra Kona area of Puri. Three miscreants had kidnapped the boy and kept him in the guest house.
The police finally tracked down the kidnappers and rescued the boy after a 30-hour ordeal in Puri after raiding the place. However, the kidnappers managed to escape, fearing arrest. The police are now working to nab the kidnappers.
