Bhubaneswar: KIIT felicitated the players from the state who participated in the Tokyo Olympics at a function on its campus, here on Saturday.
The athletes and team players who were felicitated included sprinter Dutee Chand, fencer CA Bhavani Devi, javelin thrower Shivpal Singh and hockey players Birendra Lakra, Amit Rohidas, Deep Grace Ekka and Namita Toppo.
The seven Olympians were given financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each. Coaches Amulya Nanda Bihari, Raju Sahani and Bijay Lakra were also honoured on the occasion.
Former national hockey player and chairman, Hockey Promotional Board, Odisha Dilip Tirkey; actor and Member of Rugby India Rahul Bose; and Founder, KIIT & KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta were present on the occasion.
