Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Bhuban eswar, a deemed to be university, and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela ranked in the band of 801-1000 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University rankings.
While IIT Bhubaneswar received a rank in the 1001-1200 band, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) deemed to be university Bhubaneswar, got a place in the rank band of 1201+.
KIIT official sources said the institution jumped up to the 200 positions globally in the rankings announced on Thursday. “It is a significant improvement from last year when it had achieved a rank of 1001+. KIIT’s performance makes it in the rankings is significant as it is a multi-disciplinary university with as many as 28 faculties. Had it been an institution offering only engineering courses, it would have achieved much higher ranking.”
Expressing happiness over the development, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS credited combined efforts by students and staff for the achievement. “KIIT’s performance in the rankings is significant as it is a multi-disciplinary university with as many as 28 faculties. Had it been an institution offering only Engineering courses, it would have achieved much higher ranking”, he said.
This ranking is an annual publication of university rankings by the Times Higher Education (THE). The parameters broadly cover teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outreach. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore topped among the Indian institutes received ranks by The World University Rankings.
