KISS Emerges Overall Winner In The Open State Judo Championship

Bhubaneswar: The Open State Judo Championship and Selection Trial for Sub-Junior (boys and girls) 2018 concluded here on Sunday.

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) won the highest 33 medals with 12 Golds, Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar were placed in the second and third positions with 17 and 10 medals respectively. More than 300 players and officials from 18 districts/units including KISS and Bhubaneswar participated in this single day event. A total of 29 Gold Medal winners (both boys and girls) have been selected to represent Odisha for the Sub-Junior National Championship at Una, Himachal Pradesh in the first week of September. Earlier in the morning, the opening ceremony was inaugurated by Priyabrat Patnaik (Retd IAS), president, Odisha State Judo Association; Purna Chandra Mishra, General Secretary; Gitanjali Panda, CEO; Deepankar Das, Joint- Secretary, Kandan Murmu, Technical Secretary.

All the bouts were officiated by Pururaba Mohapatra, Sagar Jena, Basanta Dalei, Biswajit Mahari and all members of Judo Hall, Bhubanswar.

Senior IAS Officer, Secretary to the Governor, MadhusudanPadhi; ACP, Sports Officer, Odisha Police B B Parida; General Secretary, Hockey Gangpur, Debasish Gouda; social activist, Lincon Subudhi; senior journalist Pradyumna Satapathy graced the closing ceremony and inspired the participants.

Gold Medal winners: Girls: Debasini Ping, Sumitra Munda, Anshika Jhunjhunwala, Maisha Nayak, Ourja Dash, Gayatri Sabar, Sapna Topno, Raimani Soren, Arati Dalai, Mukta Munda, Arati Gope, Sulendri Chalan, Tanisha Agrawal, Sunidhi Sahu;

Boys: Soumya Ranjan Giri, Falgun Kumar Agrawal, Ayush Ansuman, Saswat Soumya Brata, Ishan Kumar Pradhan, Nikesh Pujari, Jaysingh Majhi, Nitya Majhi, Jitendra Behera, Maheswar Mandal, Kaushak Lakra, Sankar Majhi, Chandan Charan Das, Ashish Agrawal, Sambit Das.
