Bhubaneswar: The girls of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences were crowned champions in the Youth Rugby friendship match between India and Sri Lanka held at KIIT Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. KISS defeated Sri Lanka 27-5.
In the boys’ match, however, the visitors pulled up a surprise victory after they survived a 0-12 scare to beat KISS by 17-12.
The second runners-up in both boys and girls category was the Odisha Rugby Football Association.
A total of six matches were held with knock-out criteria.
MLA Priyadarshi Mishra attended the event as the Chief Guest. Among others, Secretary, Embassy of Japan Sho Miura and Naseer Hussain, General Manager of Indian Rugby- Football Union were present.
