Bengaluru: A dermatologist had the gall to allegedly sexually harass a female patient in his private clinic in Bengaluru.
Based on the complaint of the 21-year-old woman, Ashok Nagar police arrested Dr Praveen, 56, who has been remanded in judicial custody.
The woman alleged that the doctor took advantage of her being alone at the clinic on Saturday evening, forcing her to undress and inappropriate touching, hugging and kissing her.
She had gone to treat her skin infection, but the doctor sexually harassed her for nearly half an hour on the pretext of examining her. The victim said that Dr Praveen hugged and kissed her multiple times, made indecent advances, even as she resisted his actions.
The doctor asked her her to undress, claiming it was part of the examination, and later suggested booking a hotel room to spend time with her.
The woman said she had visited the clinic earlier with her father, but on that particular day, he could not accompany her.
After the woman informed her family about her ordeal, a police complaint was lodged.
A case was registered against the dermatologist under sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the BNS.
The accused, who tried to deny the allegations saying the woman misunderstood his actions, was subsequently taken into custody.
The victim’s family and other local residents gathered outside the clinic and staged a protest.
