Balasore: Three members of a family sustained grievous injuries after they were allegedly beaten up by a group of youths following an altercation over flying kites at Bateshwar-Behera Sahi, here on Saturday.
As per reports, sons of Anup Saha of the area Aditya and Sunil were flying kites near their house on the day when 12 to 15 youths from Behera Sahi, who were also flying kites, allegedly cut the kite strings of the duo several times.
The brothers pleaded with the youths not to entangle their kite strings. In response to their request, the youths hurled abuses at the brothers and started beating them with cricket bats and stone.
When their father saw it, he went to their rescue but he was also thrashed. “I saw some youths thrashing my sons. I ran to save them and requested the attackers to resolve the matter through talks. But they refused and attacked me too,” said Anup.
The three were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital here. After Anup’s family filed a complaint, the police launched an investigation.
