KIW Weightlifting: Odisha’s Tikimohini Twinkles With Double Gold

Bhubaneswar: Tikimohini Mallick cornered glory, bagging two gold medals for host Odisha on the third and penultimate day of the Asmita Khelo India Womens Weightlifting Zonal League (Zone A) at Biju Patnaik Weightlifting Hall at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar On Saturday.

A cadet of Kalinga Stadium-based Odisha Weightlifting High Performance Centre, Tikimohini took the two yellow metals in 64kg youth and junior categories with a total lift of 166kg, which included 73kg in snatch and 93kg in clean & jerk.

Maintaining their medal-winning spree, Odisha lifters bagged a total of nine medals, including four gold, three silver and two bronze today. With these nine medals the overall total of the host State soared to 24 (10 gold, six silver and eight bronze).

The other two gold medals of the day for Odisha were secured by Prativa Rani Patra and Maganti Keerthi 76kg youth and senior categories respectively. Prativa also claimed one silver in 76kg junior group, while the other two silver medals for Odisha were bagged by Romali Pradhan in 64kg youth and junior categories.

Odisha picked up the two bronze medals through Aparajita Bhuyan and Swetalina Nayak in 64kg senior and 81kg senior groups respectively.
