Panchkula: Odisha lifted two medals in the hockey competition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2022 being held in Haryana.
Odisha played their hearts out before losing 1-4 to Haryana in the girls’ hockey final on Friday.
The boys put up a stellar performance in the third place play-off match earlier today. Facing Jharkhand, to whom they had lost 0-1 in the opening game of league stage earlier, Odisha went full throttle from the word go and pumped in one goal after another.
Odisha finally ran out 8-0 winners to seal the bronze medal. It was a great turnaround by the Odisha boys who had suffered a heart-breaking 2-3 loss at the hands of Uttar Pradesh just 24 hours ago.
In other sports, Odisha men and women maintained their winning run in kho-kho.
Odisha boys pipped a strong Andhra Pradesh side 16-14 for their second straight victory. The Odisha girls also notched up back-to-back wins after overcoming West Bengal by a margin of 5 points.
