Tokyo: A man brandishing a knife stabbed several passengers on a Tokyo commuter train on Sunday before starting a fire.
According to NHK television, at least 10 passengers were injured, including one seriously, reported AP.
Police arrested the attacker, identified as a man in his 20s, on the spot. He is being investigated and likely to be charged with attempted murder.
The motive was not immediately known.
Tokyo police officials said the daring attack took place inside the Keio train near Kokuryo station.
A number of firefighters, police officials and paramedics were pressed into rescue operation of passengers, many of whom escaped through windows of the train.
In one of the videos, passengers are seen running from another car, where flames were gushing.
NHK television said the suspect poured an oil-like liquid and set off a fire after stabbing passengers.
It was the second such attack on a Tokyo train in two months.
A day before the Tokyo Olympics closing ceremony, a 36-year-old man stabbed 10 passengers on a commuter train in the capital city in a random burst of violence. The culprit told police that he wanted to attack women who looked happy.
