Mayurbhanj: The COVID-19 tally in Mayurbhanj district rose to 253 on Saturday with 28 more persons testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Of the new corona positive cases, 14 are reported from quarantine centres, 12 are local contacts and two are corona warriors.
Five cases were reported from Karannjia block, four from Suikruli block, three each cases of Baijatala, Khunta and Kusumi, two each of Betnoti and Jasipur, and one each from Badsahi, Kaptipada, GB Nagar, Baripada, Shamakhunta and Baripada municipality area, according to a tweet by the district administration.
The 14 cases in quarantine centres were returnees from other states including Karnataka (5), Tamil Nadu (3), West Bengal (2), Maharashtra (1), Telangana (1), Gujarat (1) and Rajasthan (1).
Among the 12 contacts cases, three are from Kusumi block, two each from Betrnoti and Khunta blocks, one each of Badsahi, Bijatala, Kaptipada and Baripada blocks and one from Baripada municipality area.
The two corona warriors who tested positive were on duty in Shamakhunta and Khunta localities.
With 160 patients having recovered from the infection so far, the district now has 92 active cases.
