Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will oppose the bail plea of Aryan Khan in the case of a drugs bust aboard a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast earlier this month.
NCB sources told CNN-News18 the decision was made at a meeting held by NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede with top legal counsels of the drug control agency late into Friday, where they discussed the strategy of the NCB in presenting its case before the Bombay High Court. Sources also said the NCB had, so far, asked for Aryan’s health-related details and educational documents.
Aryan has moved the Bombay HC for bail and his plea will be heard on October 26.
In his plea in the Bombay High Court seeking bail, Aryan Khan said the NCB was “misinterpreting” his WhatsApp chats to implicate him in the case of seizure of banned drugs aboard a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast earlier this month.
Meanwhile, NCB also opposed the bail plea of Aachit Kumar, who according to the agency is a drug supplier, before a special court in connection to the drug bust case. Aachit Kumar was arrested on October 6 after his name was disclosed by Aryan Khan and his friend Arbaaz Merchantt. According to the NCB, it was Kumar who at times supplies ganja or weed to Aryan Khan and Arbaz Merchant. The agency allegedly seized 2.6gm of green leafy substance, believed to be ganja from Kumar’s possession.
On Thursday, Aachit Kumar had filed a bail plea through his lawyer Ashwin Thool.
