Know New Quarantine Norms & Isolation Protocol For COVID Positive Patients In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Here’s some more good news on the COVID front, amid the dip in daily cases in the state. 

Odisha Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra on Saturday said isolation will be considered complete if a corona positive patient does not complain fever for three consecutive days during the seven days quarantine period.

Explaining about the new scientific studies regarding COVID-19 Mishra said recent scientific studies have found the transmission capacity of the virus has reduced to around six days. “Keeping the report in mind, we have reduced the isolation period to one week. However, the patient needs to remain under self-observation for another seven days,” the health officer added.

During the first and second phase of pandemic, incubation period of SARS-CoV2 was 14 days and a person testing positive for the virus had the potential to infect another person within 10 days of incubation, he added.

Informing about the preventive measures to be taken in a house of an infected person, Mishra said if the family of a COVID positive person has only one toilet, then the person concerned should use it after everyone else. Toilet should be sanitised using bleaching powder and sanitiser after uses by the infected person, he added.

It may be mentioned, that for the second consecutive day, daily COVID-19 figures in Odisha dipped to 8,845. Of these cases, 972 were in the 0-18 age group. Khurda district had registered the highest of 2,528 new cases.
