Odisha Public School Body Recommends Dates For Reopening Of Classes

Bhubaneswar: The Confederation of Odisha Public Schools on Monday recommended to the government to reopen classes in the state.

As per a recommended schedule, the Confederation said schools should reopen for the students of Classes X and XII from January 8 and Classes IX and XI can resume from January 14.

Besides, physical classes from KG to VIII should restart from February 1, it added.

It further mentioned that the schools are ready to hold physical classes in two sections.

Exams

On the conduct of exams, the Confederation said while about 90 per cent of the syllabuses have been completed through online classes, the exams should be held for 70 marks in each paper and the students can be awarded 30 grace marks.  Apart from this, no students from the KG to Class VIII should be failed in the examination.

School Fees

Referring to the reduction in school fees, the Confederation said that there is no such order by any High Court. Also, the High Courts in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Haryana have told the private schools not to reduce the fees, it added.

Maintaining that the non-deposition of the tuition fees will be impossible for the private schools to give salary to teachers and non-teaching staff, the Confederation requested parents and guardians to deposit the tuition fees at a concession rate of 10 per cent.
