Bhubaneswar: The Odisha cabinet on Monday took 16 major decisions pertaining to the departments of Finance, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, General Administration and Public Grievances, Home, Excise, Labour and ESI, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water.
Following the meeting, Law Minister Pratap Jena informed that contractual employees will now be referred to as ‘Initial Appointees’ and the remuneration will be raised by 50 per cent in the first year. “The appointments would be regularised after 6 years. They will also be able to avail medical expenses like regular employees,” he added.
Jena further said that the state government will bear an additional expenditure of Rs 250 crore every year for this purpose.
