New Delhi: Frederick W Smith has stepped down as the Chairman and CEO of global delivery giant FedEx, a company he founded 50 years ago in 1971. Indian-American Raj Subramaniam has been appointed as the new CEO of FedEx.
“Fred is a visionary leader and a legend of the business world. He founded one of the world’s greatest and most admired companies, and it is my honour and privilege to step into this role and build upon what he has created,” Subramaniam said in a statement.
Subramaniam (54) joined the company in 1991. He was elected to the FedEx Board of Directors in 2020.
He served as President and CEO of FedEx Express before being appointed as President and Chief Operating Officer of the company.
From Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, he has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from IIT Bombay, and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin.
