Know The New Faces Among Old War Horses In Modi’s 3.0 Cabinet

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was administered the oath of office for a record third term by President Droupadi Murmu at a grand event on the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday. Besides PM Modi, as many as 71 ministers also took oath and will soon be allocated portfolios as the NDA 3.0 government takes shape.

Several new faces will be part of Modi’s new council of ministers in his third term in office. This includes a number of leaders belonging to other NDA parties.

The new faces include:

  1. ML Khattar (BJP): Former Haryana CM, now Union minister; won Karnal seat by 2,32,577 votes.
  2. HD Kumaraswamy (JDS): Former Karnataka CM; joined Cabinet due to BJP-JD(S) alliance.
  3. Shivraj Singh Chouhan (BJP): Ex-MP CM; won Vidisha seat with 8,21,408 votes.
  4. Jayant Choudhary (RLD): RLD leader; won two seats in UP, now in Modi Cabinet.
  5. Lalan Singh (JDU): Former JD(U) national president
  6. Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM): Former Bihar CM; now a Union Minister for the first time.
  7. Jitin Prasada (BJP): Pilibhit MP and former Congress leader
  8. Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu (TDP): Three-time MP from Srikakulam; youngest minister in new Cabinet.
  9. Chirag Paswan (LJP): Won from Hajipur, Bihar; son of former minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
  10. Bandi Sanjay Kumar (BJP): BJP national general secretary; MoS in Modi Cabinet.
  11. Ram Nath Thakur (JDU): Two-time Rajya Sabha MP; son of former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur.
  12. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani (TDP): Richest candidate in 2024 elections
  13. Suresh Gopi (BJP): Actor-turned-politician; first BJP MP from Kerala, won Thrissur seat.
  14. Pratap Rao Jadhav (Shiv Sena): Buldhana MP; former state minister.
  15. V Somanna (BJP): Tumakuru MP; former Karnataka minister.
  16. Kirti Vardhan Singh (BJP): Gonda MP; MoS in Modi Cabinet.
  17. Kamlesh Paswan (BJP): Bansgaon MP; first-time minister in Modi government.
  18. Satish Chandra Dubey (BJP): Rajya Sabha MP; MoS in new Modi government.
  19. Sukanta Majumdar (BJP): Belurghat MP; will serve as MoS
  20. Raksha Khadse (BJP): MP from Maharashtra’s Raver and daughter-in-law of former BJP leader Eknath Khadse
  21. Ravneet Singh Bittu (BJP): MoS in NDA Cabinet despite Ludhiana seat loss
  22. Ajay Tamta (BJP): Almora MP; former Uttarakhand minister
  23. Harsh Malhotra (BJP): Won East Delhi seat and is a first-time minister.
  24. Annapurna Devi (BJP): Koderma MP; inducted into Modi Cabinet.
  25. Sanjay Seth (BJP): Jharkhand leader; MoS in Modi Cabinet.
  26. Durgadas Uikey (BJP): Betul MP; former teacher, now MoS.
  27. Bhagirath Chaudhary (BJP): Ajmer MP; won by 7 lakh votes, will get MoS rank.

Of the 71 ministers sworn in Modi Government 3.0, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has retained at least 31 ministers from the last cabinet, including big names like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar and Nitin Gadkari. The Modi 3.0 cabinet has expanded to 72 members, including 30 Cabinet Ministers and 5 Ministers of State (independent charge). The majority of the berths are allocated to the BJP, with the remaining going to allied parties.
