Know The Outcome Of The Jagannath Temple Managing Committee Meeting In Puri Today

Puri: While the Odisha government is scheduled to submit its report on the implementation of 22 reform proposals for the smooth conduct of rituals in Puri’s Jagannath Temple to the Supreme Court on January 8, the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee had a meeting on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by Gajapati Maharaja and Chairman of the Managing Committee Dibyasingha Deb in the presence of the Chief Adminstrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar, Puri Collector Balwant Singh, SP Umashankar Das and senior sevayats of the Chhattisa Nijog.

The decisions taken at the meeting are as follows:

—Management of the temple rituals in consultation with the Shankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth Swami Nischalananda Saraswati.

—Special projects for the accommodation of 60,000 devotees will be taken up with the construction of Bhakta Nivas at Matitota in Puri, which will have six buildings and 1000 rooms.

—Construction of Adarsha Gurukul at Matitota in Puri.

—Specific rules will be made for the management of the temple kitchen and the Anand Bazar inside the temple premises.

—Rate chart of the Mahaprasad will be put up at the Anand Bazar complex after a joint meeting of the Niti Sub-Committee and the SJTA.

—Repair work of the Simhadwara will be completed by December this year.

—Drinking water taps and shoe stands to be set up outside the temple premises very soon.

—Appointment of architects for beautification in the temple security zone area.

—All movable and immovable properties of the mutts will be recorded in the name of the Lords.

—Proposal will be given to the state government to record the private land, acquired by the district administration during the eviction drive, in the name of the Lords.

—The land sub-committee will enlist 60,000 acres of land of the Lords, which will be submitted by the state government in the apex court.

—Detailed information about the estimation of ornaments in the Ratna Bhandar of the temple made previously and a detailed list of ornaments received by the temple from the devotees will be submitted to the apex court.

—Special plan for the development of infrastructure inside the temple premises will be given to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for approval.

—SJTA, which had issued show-cause notice to three sevayats in connection with the disruption of rituals in the temple following a faceoff between a sevayat and a constable of the Simhadwara Police Station in December last year, will hear their plea on January 4.
