Know What MEA Has To Say About Death Of 3 Russians In Odisha

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: There is no reason to link the deaths of three Russian nationals in Odisha, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified while adding that probe is underway in all the cases.

The remarks followed the death of the third Russian national, who was working as a chief engineer on a cargo ship on January 3. He was found dead off the coast of Odisha this week after mysterious death of two Russians, including a multi-millionaire, about 10 days ago. “Necessary investigation is being carried out in death of Russians in Odisha. We are now aware of the death of a Russian sailor in international waters off the coast of Odisha. His body has been brought to Paradip Port for formalities,”  MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told a presser on Thursday.

Four Russian nationals had checked into a hotel in Rayagada and one of them, Vladimir Bidenov (61) was found dead in his room on December 22. His postmortem report revealed that he had died ‘due to heart attack’. Two days later, his co-traveller Pavel Antov died after allegedly falling from a hotel’s third floor.

The third death reported was of a 50-year-old Russian engineer of a ship that was anchored off the Paradip port in Odisha.
