Bhubaneswar: On feeling restless in his life, Odia actor-turned-politician Akash Dasnayak brings stillness and calm into his being by remembering Lord Jagannath. Moreover, on a number of occasions in his life, the actor claims to have experienced the miracles of the Lord. In fact, his faith in Lord Jagannath takes him to a new level of consciousness. No wonder, the actor’s next film will also celebrate the glory of Lord Jagannath.
Titled ‘Mahabahu’, the film is likely to hit the theatres by the end of December.
Produced under the banner of RR events, ‘Mahabahu’ (another name for Lord Jagannath) will present the actor as a corporate, who is a staunch devotee of Lord Jagannath. But as the film progresses, Akash’s character in the film turns into an atheist. “The film then explores how his lost faith in Jagannath is finally restored,” reveals Akash, who has been cast opposite Poonam Mishra.
Speaking about his spiritual connection with Lord Jagannath, the actor reveals how he tries to visit Srimandir in Puri at least once a month. “There goes a saying that if the Lord doesn’t want you to visit the temple, you will not be able to make it. But, I am blessed that I have been able to visit Srimandir multiple times and have darshan of the Lord from close proximity,” he shares.
No matter how busy his schedule is, Akash makes it a point that he starts his day by offering prayers to Jagannath.
At a time when the medium of cinema is changing with the fast popularity of OTT platforms, the actor is ready to experiment. The actor had started his career with Odia film ‘Kalinga Putra’ in 2008. He went on to act in commercial films like ‘Satya Meba Jayate’, ‘Shatru Sanghar’, ‘Asibu Kebe Saji Mo Rani’, ‘Raju Awara’, ‘Dharma’, ‘Mita Basichi Boota Sathire’, ‘Agastya’ and ‘Just Mohabbat.’ But, the actor is now open to doing realistic cinema or playing the protagonist of a biopic. Not just that, the actor reveals his openness to even play anti-hero roles.
