Know What SJTA Chief Administrator Has To Say About Reopening Of Puri Jagannath Temple

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Tuesday said that the annual revenue generation of the temple has substantially come down in proportion to its expenditure.

SJTA Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar informed this to the media after a meeting of the temple managing committee which approved Rs 154 crore budget for the temple for the 2020-21 financial year.

Kumar said that while the money of the temple has been fixed in the corpus fund and foundation fund, it is necessary to raise the temple fund to generate more revenue for which an online donation system will be put in place.

On the resumption of darshan of the Lords in the temple, Kumar said that a committee comprising the SJTA  Chief Administrator, Puri SP and Collector has been formed for this purpose. The committee will prepare a blueprint to ensure that the devotees will be able to have darshan by adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, he said.

The committee will also decide on the number of devotees allowed to enter the temple. Besides, the temple managing committee will also have a meeting in this regard with the Chhattisha Nijog.

“While it will take at least one month to finalise the blueprint, the temple administration will be ready tentatively by the third week of December. After the blueprint is finalised, the temple administration will have a meeting with the state government. It is up to the state government to take a decision. Once the government gives the green signal, the temple administration will allow the darshan of the Lords,” he pointed out.
