Bhopal: As students protested against the proposal to merge Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS) with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Bhopal witnessed a ‘Gen Alpha’ protest. They staged a protest outside the school. Raising slogans against the decision, they expressed concern that the merger could undermine the institution’s original aim of promoting educational innovation and experimentation.
According to the protestors, the Demonstration Multipurpose Schools, also known as Regional Schools, have been functioning under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) since 1965.
These experimental schools were established in Bhopal, Ajmer, Mysuru and Bhubaneswar to develop innovative teaching methods and experiment with new approaches to education.
The protestors argued that bringing the schools under a different administrative structure could affect their identity.
