Know Who Is Samriddhi Sakunia, The Odisha Scribe Arrested In Tripura

Bhubaneswar: Samriddhi Sakunia, the Odisha journalist, one of the two women arrested in Tripura late on Sunday, is an active YouTuber, besides working for HW News Network.

The 21-year-old did her schooling at St Mary’s Convent School at Jharsuguda in Odisha. Her father, Gopal Sukunia, runs a dry fruits shop while her mother, Kavita Sukunia is a homemaker. She has an elder sister, who practises law in Mumbai.

Her YouTube videos of the past eight months on youtu.be/pZrloyyjeZ4 show her commenting and reporting a range of issues, right from love jihad, to the farmers’ protest, fuel prices, Nandigram incident, new IT rules and the Twitter controversy.

From her Linkedin page, we know that she has been a student at Pune’s Indira School of Mass Communication in 2020. She started working for the media outlet in New Delhi only recently, family members said.

Samriddhi has also worked as an art director in a short film, ‘Tushar’, and as a production member in ‘Question’.
