Bhubaneswar: She is only eight years old but that did not stop Pihu from cycling to the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here to seek justice for Mamita Meher.
Pihu along with her father rode bicycles from her home in the capital city to Naveen Niwas carrying placards that seek justice for the murdered school teacher. She also submitted a letter to the Chief Minister.
She said she would also write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi if no action was taken.
What made her take the step? As a girl, she feels unsafe and scared whenever she hears or reads about crimes against women. She said that this time, it was Mamita. Tomorrow, it could be someone else.
Women in the state are increasingly feeling unsafe, she said, adding that every citizen of Odisha should speak out on the safety of women and write to the Chief Minister to take appropriate steps.
The murder case has triggered a political storm in the state with Opposition parties demanding the resignation of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra.
Pihu had also written to the Chief Minister over the Pari kidnapping and murder case.
